SUICIDE RATES HAVE GONE TOO FAST!

According to WHO or also known as the World Health Organization, suicide rates have increased worldwide by 60% in the last 45 years. Suicide is now among the three leading causes of death among those aged 15-44 (male and female). In Eastern Europe, the highest suicide rates are reported for both men and women. Suicidal globally by age are represented as follows: 55% are aged between 15 to 44 years old and the remaining 45% are aged 45 years and over.

The World Health Organization estimates that each year approximately one million people die from suicide, which represents a global mortality rate of 16 people per 100,000 or one death every 40 seconds. It is predicted that by 2020 the rate of death will increase to one every 20 seconds. In the US, the Centre of Disease Control and Prevention reports that suicide is the eleventh leading cause of death for all US Americans, and is the third leading cause of death for young people aged 15-24 years old. Suicide of youths are not only in the US but in the whole world rather.
WHY DO PEOPLE SUICIDE?
According to Cambridge Dictionary, suicide is the act of intentionally killing yourself. We all know that suicide is all over the world. there are certain factual reasons why people are taking their lives despite having people who cares and loves them. Here are some of the main reasons according to Alex Lickerman M.D. why people tend to take their lives instead of living happily with it:
- They're Depressed
- They're Psychotic
- They're Impulsive
- They're Crying out for Help
- They have a Philosophical Desire to Die and
- They've made a mistake.
This are few of many reasons why people take their lives. Is it necessary to die in vain? Is there anyone who'll help them if they needed to? Sometimes, people hide they're sadness with laughter and joy that are only temporary. The world must know the truth behind this. That's why we have psychologists and other professionals to conduct studies about the causes and possible acts to prevent these cases.
WHAT ARE THE NUMBERS OF SUICIDAL RATES IN THE YEAR 2018?
Based from the general population in the year 2018: 7.7 billion people in the whole word according to Worldometers and in the year 2016: 7.4 billion people according to Statistical Portal and the global mortality rate of suicide in 2018 was 16 people per 100,000 while in 2016 the global mortality rate of suicide was 11 people per 100,000.
Let's first compare the growth of the population between 2016 to 2018.
From 2016 to 2018, the average population was 7.4 and 7.7 respectively. Clearly it grew for about 300,000,000 million. To know the percentage, we used the average population in the year of 2018 and the population of the year 2016.
First, we need to know the difference of the two population and divide it with the increasing number then multiply by 100:
7,700,000,000 - 7,400,000,000 = 300,000,00 --> 300,000,000/7,700,000,00 = 0.03896
0.03896 x 100 = 3.896 round off by 2 decimal points we will come up with 3.90% increase in population from 2016 to 2018.
Let's now compare the percentage of suicidal rates in 2016 and 2018 by their global mortality rate of suicide cases.
In the year 2016, the global mortality rate of suicide was 11 people per 100,000. To get the total rate of suicide, we're going to divide the total population in the year 2016 to 100,000 and multiply it to 11 because there were 11 people per 100,000 victim of suicide.
7,400,000,000/100,000 = 74,000 --> 74,000 x 11 = 814,000 --> final answer
We've come up with 814,000 total rate of suicide in the year 2016 and that's 0.0011% of the total population 7,400,000,000 year 2016.
In the year 2018, the global mortality rate of suicide was 16 people per 100,000. To get the total rate of suicide, we're going to divide the total population of the year 2018 to 100,000 and multiply it to 16 because there were 16 people per 100,000 victim of suicide.
7,700,000,000/100,000 = 77,000 -- > 77,000 x 16 = 1,232,000--> final answer
We've come up with 1,232,000 total rate of suicide in the year of 2018 and that's 0.0016% of the population.
From 2016 to 2018, the increase between their global mortality rate of suicide victims was 0.0005%
This proves that we might actually come to the point of the theory by WHO that by year 2020, the global mortality rate of suicide might rise to 20 per 100,000 people.
DO WE NEED TO CONTINUE THIS?
JOIN THE FIGHT! Every person need to know that despite having different traditions, cultures, different countries to live in, etc. We must know that we're created to help each other. If you already feel uncomfortable like your regretting your life asking questions "Why do I need to live?" or "What is my purpose in this world?", know yourself. You lived up to that point just to question yourself those life threatening questions without even trying to overcome it. READ! You have lots and lots of friends, your family loves you more than you know. We're all victims of these situations, it is a threat of extinction if we would fast forward to centuries but, we don't need to get to that point. It is just only a matter of time and patience to survive this battle.If you're hurt, then do something that'll ease your pain. If you're depressed, do something with someone you're happy with, this challenge is for everyone, and we can't let others fight on their own. If they seek help, make time for them. If you noticed that there's something wrong with him then ask him. All we need is action and action can do 100% change if done.
This is something worth reading and studying. Let's continue to strive in helping each other as a common member of the community and as one of the people living in this world.
