STEM D-iary Blog Begins!

STEM 11D S.Y. 2018 - 2019

This is our section from S.T.E.M. Strand. A section consists of people with unique characteristics and talents. Some of us are already former OLOPSCians and almost half of our class are new students from different schools. Ms. Nicole R. Luna is the 'Dumbledore' of our classroom. We are at the 4/4 quarter of this academic year and we have few months left until we fulfill our requirements to move to grade 12 next year.

THE COMPETITION

Last week, we had 4-in-a-row & DAMATH competition inside the classroom headed by our General Mathematics teacher Ms. Rov Salting. The purpose is that who will ever be the winner will represent the class for the inter-section match. Nicole Umayam won 4-in-a-row while Susmita Ramos won the DAMATH competition. The section had a mind-blowing experience in doing these activities.

DISCUSSION

Before ending the week, Ms. Rov recapped about the topic Exponential Equation by giving us a short activity for the day. All we have to do is to simply dictate whether the equation is Exponential or not. The activity was easy though from the instruction to the activity itself. There are just certain questions that will give you that 'confused thinking' about your final answer. So it was the end of the activity and as we check the papers, Ms. Rov discusses the answer and answering also the type of equation if it is not Exponential Equation. What students are mostly confused about is that they think equations having exponents are already considered Exponential Equations. But Exponential Equations are equations having x as the independent variable of their exponents. However, an Exponential Inequality  is an inequality in which one or both sides involve a variable exponent. This happened with the last number of our activity which we thought it as an Exponential Equations.

That's it for the week! Hoping you had a blast with our first blog! To more blogs guys!
